Webinar: EducationWeek - Examining the Evidence: Engaging Families and Communities in Recovery
“The disruption to in-person and traditional school routines are demanding more from families than ever before, as many try to fill in instructional gaps on top of providing emotional and physical care. Given these challenges, what can the research evidence tell us about how schools and districts can support families in their diverse contexts and build practical trust to support student learning?”

Webinar Recording: Undercurrent News - Flow-through salmon farming: Has Norway reinvented the wheel?
“A group of Norwegian aquaculture investors has conjured up an innovative way to break the ceiling in world salmon supply. Re-inventing flow-through technology, the way that salmon companies used to operate hatcheries before embracing recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) as a sustainable solution. But this is not flow-through technology as we knew it. This is using robotics to clean water discharge.”

Thanks to major support from Toyota Motor North America, International Paper (IP), and the Hilton Effect Foundation, the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is pleased to announce $128,000 in grant funding to support public lands that have been impacted by increased use during the COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing regulations in place, people are turning to the outdoors more than ever for exercise and rejuvenation. At the same time, the agencies and organizations responsible for maintaining public lands are hampered by reductions in staff, volunteers, and resources, leaving them ill-equipped to keep up with increased human presence in these delicate ecosystems on top of existing maintenance backlogs. In response, NEEF has established the Restoration & Resilience COVID Recovery Fund to help restore these special places by distributing resources and mobilizing volunteers. Click here for more details and to apply.

ARCHIVED FUNDING & JOB OPPORTUNITES

Colocation American STEM Grant (4/15/2020)
The Award: Up to $7500
Our STEM Grant offers funding for any K-12 STEM programming in the U.S. We award up to $7500 but no less than $1500 to a single organization. Plus, you get plenty of time to utilize the funds - just use it by September 1, 2021.
The Who: Nonprofits & Schools/School Districts
We've kept the "who" pretty open. If you work for a school district or a nonprofit (501(c)3), you are eligible to apply. That means, teachers, librarians, museologists, nonprofit development directors, site coordinators (to name a few), are all eligible to apply... but, don't forget, it has to be a STEM program.
The When: From Now until May 1st
Don't worry, there is time. You have until May 1, 2020 (a bit longer than 9 weeks) to ask us any questions and submit your proposal.
For those looking for a more in-depth conversation with our STEM Grant team, you can schedule a 30-minute call with us from now until April 10th (our "Initial Contact Period"). Just email CSR@ColocationAmerica.com to get on our schedule.
The How: 1500 Words Is All It Takes
Legit, that is it.
Our proposal is simple - tell us about the history of your organization/school and provide us with a program overview. And, yes, you have 1500 words or less to do it in. (I know, I know, that can be a blessing or a curse - if you are concerned, reach out during our Initial Contact Period and we will be happy to provide some helpful hints and guidance).
So once you have an idea/concept you want to apply for, just go over to our online application page, download the Word doc, and fill in the information asked for (i.e. contact info, history, and program overview). Then sit back and relax - we will reach out by May 29th to let you know if you were awarded.

UCONN Post-doctoral Scholar Position
UCONN has a post-doctoral associate position available. We are ideally looking for someone who has expertise in ecophysiology and culture work of seaweeds with an appreciation of molecular methods.   The position would be guaranteed for at least 1 year and possibly two (depends on our ARPAe MARINER funding).  Along with the existing domestication project of my ARPAe grant in close association with Scott Lindell, folks from Cornell University, and others, there are three related grants that would benefit from someone with an ecophysiology and field background.  Each one would also go into the new hire's effort.
